The interiors are teeming with references and Easter Eggs from the movie, and Hocus Pocus fans will appreciate the lengths that the design team have gone to replicate as many details as possible from the gift shop/witch museum. For licensed sets like this, stickers are a way to boost the realism and incorporate many key details from the movie, so it’s unsurprising that there are a large number of stickers, most of which are relatively easy to apply.

I kinda wish that the first floor was detachable like a modular building which would’ve made access much easier. To allow you to interact with the detailed interiors, the back walls open outwards, and the roof also lifts up to get you access to the attic. Just to illustrate how large the cottage is, here’s a side by side comparison with the A-Frame Cabin. The end result is really quite nice, and it has plenty of personality and charm, especially if you grew up with Hocus Pocus and are intimately familiar with the house.

The crumbling effect is achieved through a combination of gray and dark gray bricks with various shapes and textures. We also build a small graveyard, complete with three gravestones, placed slightly askew. Unfortunately, the gravestones are labeled with stickers rather than printed tiles. When closed, the doors push the green button which illuminates the light brick. The light from the fire can kind of be seen from the outside once the wall sections are closed, but I think it’s more fun just to press the button with the doors open. We also get to add one of the most famous props from the movie, the black flame candle! The round candle body is printed, which is nice, and the flame is a translucent grey, which is a new color this year.

I was excited to see how this item would be incorporated into the set, and it looks great. It’s time for Bag 3 and we’re building the waterwheel! This is an iconic feature of the witches’ house, initially used by Zachary Binks to sneak into the house in his ill-fated rescue mission.

Oh, and also really happy that that "witches hat and hair" mould has made it to an official set. It was originally intended for further Vidiyo sets, but we all know what happened there. I might actually pick up the minifigs of the three witches and put them in a random halloween display. I like the set, but I'd be surprised if there's the AFOL market for this one.
Even though the first floor isn’t complete yet, we start building the second story in Bag 6. The floor is installed in the back half of the house only, which allows for more viewing and access to the lower area. The walls are then assembled for three of the four sides. There is still no support or attachment to the small wall segment in the bottom left corner, so it keeps falling off, which is quite annoying. These upper walls are the most challenging part of the build so far. The brick choices are intentionally random looking to give the house the aged appearance, but it can make assembly tricky and the builder really needs to pay attention to the instructions here.
It is absolutely packed with details that fans will appreciate. Unfortunately, many of these details are hard to see and recognize once the set is complete due to design choices. I actually found more joy in building the Easter eggs included in the set than the final version because they are so hard to see. Bag 1 builds the gate and part of a crumbling wall, which sits in front of the main house. This section is completely detached from the main house. There are creepy vines and trees which decorate the crumbling gate and wall.
I’m assuming we will attach a second room on this side. Many fans have been wondering about the roof, which is mostly grey. The design team have done a wonderful job bringing the Sanderson Cottage to life, and fans of the show will be happy that it’s in this scale. The price is a little high, but you’re getting a complete cottage, with all 4 walls and is satisfyingly sizable making it a great display model too. Maybe maybe not but since it was made it could have been marketed better. I am sure this will do very well in North America where this movie has become some sort of Halloween staple for many people.
It recently got a sequel on Disney+, and now it has a LEGO set that’s worth the wait. This set contains 2,316 pieces and comes with minifigs of the three Sanderson sister witches, plus Max, Dani, and Allison (plus the cat Thackery Binx). The cottage is full of details from the films and opens up to display them all. It’s on backorder at the moment, but it should ship in the next couple of months if you order it soon. Woah, I've never seen the film before, but this looks fantastic as a generic witches cottage.
It comes in a typical box for any current-generation LEGO set, with a taped or glued box manufactured using relatively thin glossy cardboard. The thin cardboard is more environmentally friendly than the thicker cardboard on some older sets, but it also can be prone to damage. As you will see, the back of my copy was damaged in transit. I suspect that after the 10 thousand voters for this set have bought it... Or not, it is way more expensive than expected, espically when compared to the Home Alone house... Overall, it seems like the scale of the model is off. I feel that the house could either have been half again bigger or done smaller as a cutaway. Either approach would have allowed the details shine more.
The sisters have but one night to suck the essence of the children of Salem and survive for more than one night before sunrise. But Max, Allison, and Dani want to avoid their wish to come true, so they team up with a 300-year-old cat and Winifred's lover, Billy Butcherson, to save the day. Not only are there minifigures of every single dwarf, Snow White, the Evil Queen, and Prince Florian, but the details really make this set shine! You’ll even build Snow White’s sleeping chamber where the Prince breaks the Evil Queen’s spell in the movie. And with 2228 pieces, it’s a bit more manageable than the castle set above. This is a cute set that is very faithful to the original movie.
